Diabetes Fair
The Internal Medicine Clinic and Santiam Memorial Hospital present a Diabetes Fair on Thursday, October 16, 2008. Exhibitors will be open from 5:30–6:30 p.m. outside the Auditorium. The presentation by Eden Miller, DO will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Freres Auditorium at Santiam Memorial Hospital. Dr. Miller is coming from High Lakes Health Care in Sisters giving a presentation titled “Diabetes treatment and what the numbers mean”. Her practice in Sisters is family oriented with a subspecialty in diabetes care. Eden is also a national lecturer for diabetes treatment and prevention. Willamette Valley Hospice Bereavement Support Group
Willamette Valley Hospice is dedicated to providing compassionate end-of-life care and bereavement services for our friends and neighbors throughout Marion and Polk Counties. The classes are free and open to the public.

Odyssey Hospice Bereavement Support Group
Odyssey Hospice provides a Bereavement Support Group as a free service to the community. The support group will meet at Santiam Memorial Hospital Conference Room. The support group is provided by the highly trained staff of Odyssey Hospice of Portland/Salem. It is free and open to the public with no registration required. Dr. Hotan Talk: “New Baby, New Body”
Tanie Hotan, MD will be teaching a pre-conception counseling class for couples on Thursday, Sept. 25, from 6:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m. at the Aumsville Medical Clinic located at 205 Main St., Aumsville, OR 97325. Dr. Tanie Hotan will answer any and all questions on how to prepare for the healthiest pregnancy. She will go over diet, exercise, medications safe during pregnancy, how to increase your chance of conceiving and much more. The class is free and refreshments will be available. Babysitter’s Training
This course provides individuals, ages 11 to 15, with the information and skills necessary to provide safe and responsible care for children in the absence of parents or adult guardians. This training will help participants develop skills in leadership and professionalism; basic care; safety and safe play; and first aid. Students receive a
Babysitter’s Training certificate upon completion.

Adult CPR and First Aid Class
Our most popular safety course trains individuals to respond to emergencies, identify life-threatening conditions provide care, control bleeding, and prevent injuries. This seven hour class meets current ECC guidelines. This class is tailored specifically to the workplace but applies to most any environment. Students are assessed by each skill demonstrated and must pass a written exam. Successful completion certifies the student in Adult CPR for one year and First Aid for three years. Individuals may take the First Aid section alone if possessing a current Red Cross CPR Certification.

Child Birth Preparation

of your new child. Breathing techniques, health, delivery expectations and
breastfeeding are just a few of the topics covered.

Breastfeeding clinic/group
Weekly breastfeeding clinic with one-on-one consultation to help with questions and problems from 9:00–11:00 a.m. followed by a weekly breastfeeding group from 11:00–12:00 to connect with other nursing moms in the area to build a support network. Pregnant moms are welcome!

Sibling Preparation
Class
Prepare your child for the new welcomed addition to the family! Taught by Patty
Sherman, Nurse Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife. Children receive a free
t-shirt that they decorate. Learn how to create an experience of personal growth
for both siblings and parents. Help give your child a sense of security and
importance before and after delivery. Alleviate anxieties regarding a new baby
and mother’s impending hospitalization. Discover parental strategies
for coping with an additional child in the family. Have fun together making
a big brother or big sister t-shirt!

Memorial Service
In remembrance of all miscarried and stillborn babies. This service is open
