History
In 1950, as a result of the concern for
the health and welfare of the residents of the North
Santiam area, community leaders formed a non-profit
organization to plan for the construction of a hospital.
The non-profit organization became Santiam Memorial
Hospital. After construction completion, based on donations
from over 3,000 individuals and businesses, Santiam
Memorial Hospital opened its doors in April, 1953.
Major expansion and remodeling programs in 1963, 1984
and again in 1993 bring the Hospital to its present
size.
Today, Santiam Memorial Hospital is a
40-bed general hospital serving a population of over
30,000 people. A model of community cooperation, the
Hospital provides quality medical care in an environment
designed to insure a maximum of comfort and the preservation
of every patient’s dignity. It is the best of
professional care as well as treatment with the personal
touch. The Hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission
for Accreditation of Hospitals and is a member of the
Western Association of Hospitals, the Oregon Hospital
Association and the American Hospital Association.
